You’re Spam is not Welcome on My Facebook Wall

StumbleUponLinkedInShare

As most of us know by now, Facebook is a great place to connect with friends, family and perspective clients.  We share information with each other, post photos and videos and links to information that we think our Facebook friends will enjoy.  But your spam is not welcome on my Facebook Wall!

I tolerated it for a while and would just Remove the post from my Wall.  But then it kept coming more frequently.  I appreciate that lots of people enjoy playing games on Facebook and that’s great for them, but I don’t.  So when someone wants me to give them a pig for their Farm, I don’t even know what that means!

Now it seems that my wall is the new place for people to put up their advertising videos and links for products and services.  What’s that about?  Typically you have to pay a lot of money to post an advertisement somewhere, but these people think that it’s OK to just drop by my personal wall and dump their ads there.  Well, it’s not OK.  Especially on my personal wall.  I have conversations there with friends and family.  And because I have an online business I put links, blog posts and videos there of my stuff and other things I think are useful – but hey, it’s my wall!

So spammers, look out.  I’m ready to start “taking names and kicking _ _ _ ” as my dear friend The Colonel always says! Well, not really because I’m not the violent type! ;-)   But…I would appreciate you not using my wall to schlep your stuff.

Thanks for letting me blow off steam!  Now back to work. :-)

I know – it’s really sad isn’t it. That’s one of the reasons that I questions the necessity for every business to have a Facebook page. Unless you manage it then it becomes an exercise in negative publicity :(

Thanks David. I am a huge advocate for Facebook Fan Pages. Even with the spammers, it’s still a great place to interact with your community and potential clients. Also, it gives your business another avenue of exposure online.
