What do they say about you on Twitter?

StumbleUponLinkedInShare

reputation monitoringAre you monitoring what others are saying about you, your business and your industry on Twitter?  This is valuable information that you can capture at little or no cost by simply using online tools.

By listening to what is being said by others, you can engage more quickly in conversations, offer helpful tips and resources and set yourself apart as a thought leader and an expert in your field.  Also, should an unpleasant or harmful comment pop up about you or your business, you will be able to do damage control much sooner if you are monitoring the conversations that are coming through social media about you.

Below are several Twitter monitoring tools and services that you can check out and test for yourself.

  • SocialOomph – is a service that will help boost your productivity on sites like Facebook and Twitter and even your blog.  The key piece for you to listen to what others say about you is the “Keyword Alerts” feature in SocialOomph.  Just enter up to 50 keywords and this service will send you a daily alert of any mention of the keyword in Tweets.  This gives you an opportunity to respond to them or start up a conversation about the keyword.
  • HootSuite - My personal favorite monitoring tool is HootSuite.  Within the dashboard you can establish “streams” to alert you anytime someone Retweets something you said, Mentions you in their own Tweet or mentions a Keyword that you are monitoring.  It’s all compact into one dashboard for easy viewing and communicating.
  • Twist - This is a graphical monitoring tool that provides daily, weekly and monthly trends for keywords used in Tweets.
  • Monitter – Just another tool to monitor keywords and phrases in real time allowing you to jump into the conversation.
  • Twitter – And the most obvious way to monitor your name, brand or industry is Twitter itself! You can see who has Retweeted your Tweets, mentioned you in their Tweet and who has direct messaged you straight from your Twitter account.

Online name and reputation monitoring is a critical piece of your online marketing efforts.  You must know what others are saying about you and to you.  Try using some of these tools and see what others are saying about you on Twitter.
