You may not have thought about it, but making a few small changes can make a world of difference!</span></p>

<li><strong>Come up with a great title</strong> – not only can a great title attract eyeballs, but using keywords where your customers are likely to find you will help your rankings on search engines (especially considering YouTube is owned by Google!) Here is a link to <a href="http://labs.wordtracker.com/seo-blogger/" target="_blank">SEO Blogger</a>, a free keyword research tool that works with WordPress and Firefox.</li>

<li><strong>Place your website address on the video</strong> – you can have it discreetly running at the bottom or have it flash (with a link) at the end of the video, but absolutely begin your description of the video with your complete url (including the http://)  – whichever way you do it, it will help your audience connect and interact with you.</li>

<li><strong>Brand, brand and brand</strong> – don’t forget to place your logo and company name prominently (but tastefully) throughout your videos.</li>

<li><strong>Answer questions</strong> – if you don’t know where to begin, think of the most frequently asked question your customers or other professionals ask you and try to build your script and your video around answering this question. <li><strong>Describe a case study</strong> – another great way to show off what your business can do is through a case study, which showcases how you were able to help a client solve a problem through your service and/or product.</li>

<li><strong>Pay attention to the details</strong> – is your music pleasing or annoying? Do your graphics induce seizures in small children? You want your video to appeal to the widest range of potential customers, so take that into consideration before you decide to use bright pink letters and heavy metal background music in your video.</li>

<li><strong>Have a summary or transcript available as well</strong> – sometimes, people really do want to know more about your product, but for some reason they can’t play your video. Having a text summary or transcript will aid those who can’t watch your video.</li>

<li><strong>Tag your videos</strong> – much like using proper titles, great tags and keywords will help your audience find your video.</li>

<li><strong>Make it available in different formats </strong>– it’s hard to tell what type of software people have on their PCs, and many just can’t be bothered to download new software just to play one video, so make sure you have your video in different formats (.mov, .avi. fla) as well as sizes (high quality for broadband and lower quality for those who may not have fast connections or using their mobile phones.)</li>

<li><strong>Measure results</strong> – you’ll want to know how successful your video is, to figure out what your ROI is, and if video marketing is right for you. Statistics like the number of views, play counts, subscribers are easy enough to track on even the most basic video sites, though there are more sophisticated tools available on the market that will give you a wealth of information on your viewers.</li>

<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">These days, videos and video marketing are all the rage, with everyone from small blogs, to big corporations are jumping on the bandwagon. With the technology available, they are cheap to make and even faster to spread to viral-like proportions, especially with sites like YouTube and Blip TV making it easy for anyone to upload and host their content on the Internet.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://tastingtheinternet.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/film-and-movie-reel.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-1054" style="border: 0pt none; margin-right: 10px;" title="film and movie reel" src="http://tastingtheinternet.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/film-and-movie-reel-300x200.jpg" alt="video marketing" width="210" height="140" /></a>Videos can increase a site’s performance by increasing traffic – <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/google" title="Google" rel="homepage" href="http://google.com">Google</a> particularly seems to give high rankings to popular videos, producing organic results, probably because they recently purchased <a href="http://youtube.com/avirtualbiz" target="_blank">YouTube</a>. And really, moving pictures coupled with sounds just makes for a more entertaining experience for any audience. Why read dry and boring text when you can watch graphics pop up on screen and listen to music?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Any Joe with a video camera, laptop and broadband connection can shoot, edit and upload a video. However, that doesn’t mean you should just go around the neighborhood and start capturing everyone you meet.  A great video can give you great traffic and publicity, but a bad one can blow up in your face. You may end up as fodder for late-night TV’s comedy writers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">So if you want to make video marketing work for you, just follow these key points:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><em>Content, content, content</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Why should people watch your video? That is the most important question you’ll have to ask before you begin. You have to show the world what you’ve got, whether it’s 30 seconds or 30 minutes. The intended audience should be able to relate to what you have to say – it should be relevant to them. The details – format, scripts, actors, sets and production will rely on your market, but starting with some good material and research will get you a long way.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><em>Watch your budget, but don’t penny-pinch </em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">You probably don’t have the millions of dollars it takes to make a Superbowl ad, which is why you’re doing an online video. Unless you’re a big corporation, spending anything more than a couple of hundred or thousand dollars will not yield a good return on investment. Of course, don’t just ask anyone off the street with a camera to make your video – you don’t want to seem cheap and have this image stick to your company. It’s all about scaling your budget and production to your needs – find that balance between B-movie and Blockbuster to ensure you won’t blow your budget out of the water and make sure you have a well-produce video.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><em>Tailor it for the Internet</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">You probably won’t be premiering your masterpiece at the local IMAX theater, so keep that in mind when making production decisions. Technology for High Definition is easily available these days, but if you’re marketing to, for example, work-at-home moms on laptops, then there’s no need for a full-HD resolution which may run bad on slow internet connections. Also, a good videographer/editor should be able to tailor your video to your needs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Next item you’ll have to consider is Search Engine Optimization (SEO), making sure that search engines will be able to find your videos and deliver them to the right audience. Determine which meta tags and keywords are relevant to your business and video, to make sure it gets in front of the right people.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Finally, you’ll have to promote your video – cover all your bases and don’t just rely on YouTube, but post it on places like <a class="zem_slink" title="Metacafe" rel="homepage" href="http://metacafe.com">MetaCafe</a> and <a class="zem_slink" title="Veoh" rel="homepage" href="http://www.veoh.com">Veoh</a>, maybe even on your facebook page and of course, send it out to your Twitter Followers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Don’t forget one last thing – have a call to action! After watching your video, what do you want people to do? Most likely, you’ll want then to visit your website and buy your product or service. Promote you brand and your url prominently throughout the video, and to make it easier for your viewers, make you video clickable by using services such as <a href="https://www.veeple.com/signupaf.php">Veeple</a>. Veeple will not only enhance your video’s interactivity, but help you manage your content, deliver a branded experience and measure your video’s performance.</span></p>
